Samson Cancer Center

This project featured a 48,000 square foot cancer center in the former site of an Acme supermarket. P. Agnes performed a complete gut/fit-out of the existing space, installed new HVAC and electric infrastructure, and implemented extensive new underground sanitary systems to accommodate the environmental and technological demands of the new cancer center.

The new center features spaces for a number of medical services and functions including oncology and radiation departments, genetic counseling, exam spaces, consultation areas, and infusion bays. Also within the space are administrative offices, lab testing areas and spaces for equipment and support staff.  This project also included a significant amount of coordination and installation of medical equipment, including two linear-accelerator vaults, surgical equipment and lighting. An internal pharmacy was also constructed, which included construction of a sterile environment, a compounding area, and fume hoods.

Additionally, an outdoor healing garden was designed and constructed for patients in the infusion center, who will have a view out the window into the space as well as pedestrian access. A patient boutique and a coffee shop is also located within the new center.

For the construction of the building’s front façade, P. Agnes removed the existing façade and replaced it with an architectural panel system, including new canopies and lighting schemes.
